Bandwidth or File Transfer Allowance is the amount of information the hosting server is contracted to provide for your site per month. 1 GB allows for approximately 20,000 page views. This means that in any month, the individual pages on your site can be accessed approximately 20,000 times.

Hits vs. Page Views

The term "Hits" refers to the total number of requests a server has for files and information.

"Page Views" refers to the number of complete pages a server provides.

Since most pages have a number of files associated with them (text, graphics, scripts) any single page view might be equivalent to 20 or more hits. Therefore, 20,000 page views per month actually means approximately 400,000 hits per month.
